Tonight i sent a complaint for unprovoked continual swearing or whatever it is.
Couple mins later a person with a different name starts giving me some serious hassle.
I presume it was the same person with a different name.
When i tried to send a complaint for what was serious unprovoked insult, i am told you can only send a complaint every 30 mins. I realise the mods can be busy, but is the guy supposed to get away with it?
I could put him on ignore, but that doesnt solve the problem or let justice be served.
This rule means people can use multi accounts to seriously harass people and get away with it.

i queried this a few weeks back and i can't remember the answer it was a misty night...
But the only thing you can really do in a situatio like this is call for a mod, and if they are not online use the ignore button. I find it quite funny knowing that someone is wasting there time slandering me when they dont know im not reading it(note before i became a mod). Moderators also are not involved with the send complaint answering/action taking.

Also, if you have a look at the game shouts forum, it appears Admin are finally taking action regarding multiple accounts, lets hope these immature abusers of the system are weeded out and banned soon.

Sorry man, can u quote which part is relevant to the problem. Also, i just kept the pm window open for half an hour and sent it then. Although i have been informed the complaint has to be sent within a short time of the infringement, it still said the log had been sent to the admin team. If an admin could pm me to discuss whether the complaint went through or even if you could leave a message here on whether it was successful.
Maybe that would be a solution, as people who are overcomplaining for no reason wouldnt wait 30 mins to do so.

Scaley you can only send 1 complaint per 30mins so the receiving end is not open to spamming. The admins take complaints very seriously and we cant have it getting spammed.
If you have a second complaint to send i would suggest either:
1. Leave the chat window open and send complaint once the 30mins is up
2. Send a seperate email through contact us. If it is the same user on a second name as you suggested, the admins will be able to check that out.

i realise about the spamming thing but have a couple of questions.
What about the thing meaning you have to get the complaint sent within a certain (short) time?
Can admins check pm logs? if so, for how long back? (as it takes quite a while to get through the other complaints)

Yes admins can check PM logs as long as the complaint is sent from the PM and not the chat room.
Im not sure how long you have to send it - better directed to the admins. (I would assume this is more for the main chat window as the text is updated much quicker.)

i kinda meant logs from which a complaint not been sent. im aware they can for the main chatroom.

I remember this being discussed before and all chat logs are kept for quite a while, at least a week or so. As was said at that time, text takes up minmal space (especially given the price of storage these days) so they could probably easily store months worth if they wanted..

Actually we don't store chat logs. It would be trivial to do so but it's against our privacy policy (and my personal opinion is that it would be obtrusive), hence we only see a subset of the chat log when a user sends a complaint.
I agree in rare cases you do need to send complant more often than once every 30 minutes, but I don't see any particular problem with how multiple accounts can bypass this system.

So, what your saying Nick, if you must send another complaint in less than 30 minutes, we could use another username to complain again?

If you had another username you couldnt send the complaint as you wouldnt be able to send the chat log.
I dont understand how you fail to see how multiple accounts can bypass the problem i highlighted -

Unfortuanatly there isn't one. There will always be 'children' who want to waste their time ruining someones game, you just have to fight on and keep ignoreing them! I had it once in a tourny match in the morning, where i had ppl coming in the room pming me trying to put me off. In the end i had to ignore everyone! Just the way it is!

Sure is 1_eye - but think of the mods who cant ignore everyone!
Interesting to hear that Nick. I scrapped the chatroom on my site after being told i had a legal requirement to keep all chat for a period of time (and i didnt have the time to modify things)
Mind you, that was by a lawyer, and we all know what they are like!

Scaley if you send a complaint against a user and they harrass you on another username simply put them on ignore.
Remember that under our multi-using policy we will take action against all usernames belonging to the offender.

It wont matter how many accounts they have, action will be taken (as shown on the game shouts forum recently) against all that persons accounts. It would be extremely rare for people who are stupid enough to do things like that to know, and remember, to change or spoof thier IP address every time they change logins...

I'd personally write their names down! Then pass them on to admin! That will upset the lil buggas far more than they can upset you!

Very true Spinner, but with it taking up to a week to get round to complaints, i bet they have switched up their IP by then.
