Lads - it makes no difference which p2p software you use, the viruses come in the files you download.
Just be sensible, keep your antivirus up to date, dont use dodgy file types (like wma/wmv) and install a secondary firewall like peerguardian.

i use soulseek, recommended by a friend from this site, as it has no ads or popups in the program, and ive downloaded enough files to last forever and ive had no viruses but maybe im one of the lucky ones!

None of the p2p programs "have viruses", its the files you download!
Persoanlly, nothing compares (or is as secure as) bittorrent, however, of the old fashined "open up your compuer" type software, Limewire is undoubtably the cleanest.

Limewire is the cleanest, but is still full of malware. The only way you can get your hands on a lot of music, with absolutely no problems is to walk down to HMV. Or use Napster.

All you need is up to date antivirus software. Problem solved.
DC++ is by far the best program to use in terms of music choice. The only down side is it takes a while to work out how to use. If you cant be bothered with that, Soulseek is far better than Limewire, Morpheus, Kazaa etc.

I don't think the viruses come in music all that much, it's more executable files. by the way spinner Firefox now has an in-browser spell-check, beat that!!
One way of being relatively sure you get rid of any malware is to use i-tunes and you can convert to aac format. I'm pretty sure that will clean the track out.
As for folders its all personal preference, with limewire you can edit the settings so the music downloads (and is uploaded) from the same folder.
I agree with spinner on the torrents, but I use these for larger files and programs, its too much effort for me to use it for one song!
One last tip for limewire is to edit the settings so that the program doesn't launch on start-up or minimize to tray on closure, it will eat ram (slow your computer down)
