Use IE!
I know i may sound like a stuck record but its a simple fact that Firefox is unstable and insecure. This thread proved this showing that its not even reliable on Unix systems, which by definition are rock solid.
There are plenty of so called computer experts who will tell you to stay away from microsoft, but the fact is that IF the software is setup properly and used sensibly (and if programmers write thier software correctly) then windows is as solid as any other System.
Sorry, rant over! Make sure you have the latest Java updates and get yourself Internet Explorer 7 and you will be fine.

ok spinner.. i can only use IE if i use wine, (windoze software emulator) which will make IE run slow, and firefox is perfect on my system, i am on windoze atm, because my pc has a hrad drive failure atm, i need 2 sort it out later. I havent had a prob with it since i got it. There is a new version of my distro coming out on the 26th of this month which includes firefox 2, hopefuly all problems fixed for everybody.

gr8_7baller - I wasn't meaning you! I know you cant use IE on Linux (not sensibly!)
You said your problem was sorted, i was trying to help out JJ..
I would reccomend using OpenSUSE if you're keen on a grapical front end, but i admit to not having much experience of the graphical front ends, give me command line unix anyday

No problems dude!
And untill a stable RC of Firefox 2 emerges, this little script may be of help: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Installation

Well you can read the nfo for yourself, but basically yes, stripped down IE installs that dont need an emulator to run.
Note : I haven't checked how well they handle java apps like FP so i'll leave that to you if you're interested enough!

Hey buddy, sorry haven't been on much, hows Ubuntu going for ya?
Try Opera, its quite a good browser, or google internet browser and theres a list of about ten of them; you need to test them out to find the best one for you.
Spinner, I don't disagree with you, IE7 is nice software but very unstable in my opinion, have tested it! I do like the way they've simplified the program and got rid of some of those silly toolbars, but check your processes and see how much memory IE7 is using, the graphical interface is to much, almost double that of mozilla and Opera!

Be sure and read the editors review as well. Spinner, for once, you may be wrong!
Feel free to argue with Cnet though.....lol

No i certainly dont work for microsoft, but i am involved in governmental network security..
I know its "cool" in the computer world to knock Microsoft, but there's a reason they are as big as they are, but many people seem to overlook that.
I use, and reccomend, Microsoft, simply because thier software is reliable, secure, and above all, works!
As for IE7, i have used it since Beta2 and have yet to see it trip up. Easily the most solid browser i can find at the moment. Sure its a little resource hungry but i dont mind when its stable!
(I still use IE5 on the Win98 machine )
Oh, and Cnet aren't worth arguing with! Seems those guys are stuck in the fantasy created by films like "hackers"
Good for a laugh though i must admit..
