how about a brb button.... for example i hate it wen i go to the loo or make a cuppa tea of go for a fag and come back to a pm box with "hello hows it goin? HELLO??? HELLLLLLLLLLLOOOOO????" etc etc

i hate bein rude and dnt ever wana seem rude but it appears i am by ignoring the person tryin to get in touch wit me... so if there was a brb button... you could simply click that and the person would know that you are away...

like when you try and get in touch wit someone but cnt as it says "tread ignores pm's whilst competing" etc etc

Its been mentioned many times before, but it always comes down to the fact that people shouldn't be so stupid!

If you dont reply, obviously you're not there or busy! Duh!

But, as admin (cant remember exactly who) has said the other times it's been brought up, why not sign out, thats why there is an "online"/"offline" option!

(find it dead funny this is actually mentioned on the thread yet no-one noticed it is the same thing! LOL!)



On reflection though, a BrB button could be good if it also logged people out of the game, so they weren't left hogging rooms and not playing... THAT would be useful..

Reasons for not logging off.

Takes a while to load up the game window again.
May be in conversation with someone and wish to keep the conversation in view.
May be having problems with a user, going offline may seem to them that they 'have won' (staff mainly for this)
It confirms to people that you will come back.
Messages can still be sent to you for you to read on your return.
In a game with someone and don't want others to join the room, while someone may also want to pm you at the same time.

Most of these points there are ways round them, but a brb button would cover the lot simply and quickly. It's a cracking idea and has been mentioned before but lost into the mist somewhere. I hope the admins take note of this one as it would be a very good feature for the site.

As for chat rooms being clogged up i've got a few suggestions:

User is logged out after a 3 minute period, rather than 15 minutes.

Users who say they will brb are sent to a 'brb room' or could be sent to one of the current rooms that are not used so much.

Okies squeezy i agree, the BrB room is an excellent idea. I was mainly thinking of the problem of users "sitting" in games and not playing... (best handled by auto game starts as discussed anyway..)

I also agree with the logging out after 3 mins, excellent idea and wen all is said and done, if you have the time to be away for 3 mins you have time to wait the 5 seconds it takes to login again!

And if it takes longer than 5 seconds to login in?????

JSG - clicking the login button will take exactly the same time as clicking the BRB button again to show you're back!

I think this is a great idea, yes it may not be necessary but i think it would be a fun feature to have, afterall this is funkypool
