Ok, those who know me know i haven't been able to play on this old comp for quite a while now, however, a simple cure has been found (which may help others)
Install IE7! Its fast, and though its only a beta seems rock solid, and more importantly funkypool just SCREAMS along on it!
Happy at last! Now i just have to find time to play!

I'm glad it's solved your problems, spinner, but I'm not sure why it would make a difference!
Have you noticed if it is using a different versions of Java or Flash?

Same versions of everything Nick! So it seems its down to IE itself.
This would make sense in a way, as i did notice a small improvement using Firefox also (untill it crashes or floods the comp with spyware an viruses.. Grrrr....)

I've got IE 6.0 and hav no lag worries.... whether u can blame lag on IE is to be disputed.
I think the key to stopping lag is closing applications, ensuring u hav no spyware and of course a good internet connection

The solution only mentions IE users.
Can Firefox users use Microsofts VM?

Can people give more information about this?
- Is it occurring only when certain adverts are shown (and if so which ones, does the lag go when you see the rankings advert)?
- Are you using multiple Internet Explorer windows, and if so are there other games or ads running in the background?
- And what's your Java version, Browser and Operating System? (more info here http://www.funkypool.com/help.do?section=playing_problems )
I'm unable to reproduce the problem so the more information given the more chance we can solve the problem.

rangersfc - yes firefox can run the MS VM, if you can get it to run long enough without crashing!
for the record - my situation appeared to be machine specific. certainly nothing to do with connection speed etc and the only spyware on this machine was firefox..
However i just decided to try the game after installing IE7 and hey presto!
Absolutely nothing different regarding the macromedia or java...

Just noticed rangersfc's capped post. I have to emphasise again - ads have nothing to do with it. I can play on a 33.6k dialup on my old laptop with absolutely NO lag whatsomever. The ads all load and play fine.
There appear to be issues with some setups, i have tried my best to help with this issue, and IE7 has cured it for me.
Basically - despite all the effort Nick put in to this issue - its your lag, so its your problem.
I havent been ablt to play at home for months, but have never sworn about it once. Enjoy the challenge of sorting it!
