I think it's a skillful and interesting part of the game. When ppl do it to me, I expect it - it's all part of it.

And yet there seems to be a generally hostile reaction to it. When u win on 3 consecutive snookers, ppl tend to get upset and some call you a cheat. People can start swearing even if you attempt to go for a second snooker.

So is it cheating? Is it unsporting? I'd like your opinions because I really don't know.

its a perfectly legitimate way to win, i think ppl are annoyed at themselfs after being snookered for the3rd time so they take it out on the person who snookered them. i for one always try 2 get snookers on the first 3 balls then once ther gone i focus on potting, i find that is a fairly effective way of playing.

No its not, its skill to get a snooker.

Certain players like benni_p abuse you in uk 8 ball if you snooker them 'cos you should be able to pot em all'. Its ridiculous to suggest a RULE is cheating.

you like getting personal dont you. its completely different in uk 8 ball. its negative and needless when you had a perfectly good pot on. my point was that someone ranked as highly as you shouldnt have to play like that.as for us 9 ball its a skill

I decide what shot i take benni, not you. I didnt think i had the pot on hence i made the safety. End of. See my advice for newbies if you want tips on how to play and be consistent?

Simple answer is no. Its as skillful and "correct" way of winning as cleaning up.

Snookering should always be encouraged in any game, and is always preferable to potting unless a clearence is easily achievable.

There are always immature people who will counter skill with abuse. Just take it as a compliment and give em a quick ty

Ye I think it's part of the game. Put yourself on the otherside: it's very frustrating to lose a game with three snookers. I don't know about the rest of you but I can be a good sport and exercise self-control. I have no time for anyone who can't and gets abusive.
The real question is:
How annoyed do you get when you lose without anyone potting a ball?!

True magicblack. It applies to everything, Imagine if you played 6 games to earn a bit of rank then this happens and you lose two thirds of the rank you gained. You just have to control yourself and say its a game, i am never a bad loser in any circumstances even though i lose loads of rank points.

Put it this way tho - if you loose by 3 fouls, either you lost to a skillful and deserving opponent, or you did it to yourself! Either way its better than loosing to a fluke or a GB
