A lot of players take one look at the layout on 9ball & get out the game quick. If the 9 looks pottable by the opposition or they start with 2 fouls and get snookered - they're gone. Therefore I dont think the '3 balls potted' rule works so well with this game, cos the game can easily be over in 2 or 3 shots. It needs to be that if they take a shot, they're playing, and if they leave, they forfeit the game.

Most players show good sportsmanship, but you are right, there are a few who 'hit and run' if they don't like what they see.

I have a good memory, so they only ever get to do this to me once, and they gain nothing for the pleasure!!

Though to be honest, i don't get this happening too often.

There is another thread about this but the more exposure the better so something may get done!!

You are very lucky pool_life - this happens endlessly for me, i'd guess only about every 4th player stays on if they dont get a good start. As with the other games its generally the higher ranking players who are at fault.

The 3 ball rule is silly in all the games, get rid of it ASAP please and make the site more enjoyable for all...

I don't agree for all games spinner - I think martin's right. It's the 9ball where it's a problem. UK and US 8 are rarely predictable after 3 balls go down - wheareas 9 ball can have an inevitable outcome after 1 shot. I know u gotta big issue bout this, cos I read your threads before, but it can be really aggravating to wait for an oppo, nip out of room for 2 secs and come back to your 'OVER 750 PLS' game to find a 620 playing u.

Yeah it is a pet gripe of mine! Pretty much the only one though, and as you have probably noticed i have indeed campaigned for this long before the 9ball even started.

A simple change so both players must agree to start the game would be all that is required. Although alternatives like a delay before break is possible, and the ability to continue playing after an opponent leaves would help matters...

Yes splatter, in US 9 ball if any ball is down and you leave, then you automatically lose. This was changed from the 3 ball rule previously.

Awww Simon why did u tell em! Its been fun watching people leave when they dont have an easy win, not realising its costing them the game anyway :-)

The quicker this is introduced to the 8ball games the better! YAY!
