When we added the forum to here it was for 2 main reasons:

1) To have a the game query forum, where we could chat about problems, how to resolve them, how the game should change (ideas etc) etc.

2) To allow friendly chat between the users, to organize matches, *light* banter, etc.

And it was used in those ways, however of course it grew into other things, including:

Chat and games, general chat about whatever etc... which I was pleased to see.

But, a large part became abuse, between players and between players and staff. This devalues the forum. Additionally there was a lot of spamming, nonsense posts, and posts simply for the sake of it.

As moderators of the forum the only way we can stop people posting was to ban players - sometimes this was harsh for breaking the rules.

Hence you now must read the rules before posting, and we can revoke forum posting abilities, which is fairer than banning.

However we will still ban for offensive posts.

Chat about players is to be removed completely. To post chats saying "I'm back", "I'm new", "I'm off" please use the Game Chat.

Anyway, this should ensure we have a cleaner more useful forum.

The old chat about player's was deleted in it's entirety. There were a few nice threads in there, however it was like searching for a needle in a haystack!!

On another note, a few users recently were banned for what were basically minor forum violations (similar occurrences when logged into the game server would have warranted a booting at most).

Hence, the new code which enables us to block users posting without banning the user completely. And as a one off, I will unblock the users who were banned harshly.

This is a good feature.It will hopefully stop the spam/junk, threads and posts!. Users who break the forum rules agreement,can just as easily have their posting abilities removed, which causes less hassle without resorting to a ban.
