Ive just bought a new (to me anyway) pc and i need to set up my old internet connection on it. It is a wanadoo broadband connection and an ADSL modem, the only problem is ive lost the drivers to install the modem onto my new pc and obviously the computer isn't recognising the modem. Is there a way i can use the old drivers allready installed on my old pc? or can i download them somewhere? any help will be really appreciated. thanks in advance

Have you gone to 'control panel' then click on 'printers and other hardware' then click on 'phone and moadams' and this will tell you what drivers are installed.

Also try checking that its not disabled.

If the modem drivers arent installed on your pc, you shall need another broadband installation disk, to reinstall.
When windows isnt detecting your modem on start up, do you mean isnt detecting type & model? If so when promted click "Manually my device" and select your modem from a list!!

Buy or find, your wannadoo broaband installation disk, so that you can install your modem drivers to your pc!
Also, the above is likely your problem, but as you say it isnt actually brand new, you could have system errors, and when commanded windows automaticaly detects and repairs these. I had an identical problem to you, and i did this and it sorted it.

1) Click "Start" tab on desktop!!
2) Select "Run" from the dropdown list that will appear!
3) In the box which will come up, you will be asked to type your command.
4) In the box type "scanreg"

After this a error check will start, (lasts seconds)
If this was your problem, all should be fine, but if it isnt, get a new broadband installation disk.
HHope it helps

Thanks

Chris, he cannot get them off microsoft.com, because they are specific drivers for the modem, which needs to be installed from the disk you get with the broadband package.
See microsoft for website tho, mite help
