i think there should be another rank rule unless it is one already, the more balls you win by the more of an increase you get.

also if the game ends because of a foul on the black, the loser should lose more and the winner should gain less

Nah the game could end with any balls remaining due to tactics.

They are good suggestions. However it's a winner takes all sport, which makes it so great/agonizing.

EDIT: Actually those would make good stats rather than ranking criteria.
