Ash sent me this mail earlier via FB.
Good News: Firefox sticking around longer and the new Edition will be accessible for a while:
As we announced last year, Firefox plans to drop support for all NPAPI plugins, except Flash, in March 2017. The next major Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) release, also scheduled for March, will continue to support plugins such as Silverlight and Java until early 2018, for those users who need more time for their transition.

But Chrome and Opera has no java support now, and Microsoft made Microsoft Edge (No Java i don't think) as a default on newer systems.
It's good news Java is staying but somewhere down the line, Java will be obsolete so nick would need to act soon if he wants to save the site to move it to a new coding language.
