Attracting newbies to forums

Someone just made an interesting point to me so I thought I'd share it
I think i remember reading somewhere before about only a small percentage of members reading forums and giving suggestions/opinions...... maybe a link in game pointing newer members towards reading the forums?
The people that have their say already are mainly long term members, and will more than likely stick around anyway in the hope things get better. Newer members will probably give up after being logged out 2 or 3 times.
My suggestion is to post a link in the chat window to let people know things are at least being looked at, and to let them know their opinions are welcome.

newbies cant use the forum without the forum pro's jumping on them like they own the place.
