Ok .. So i'm starting a 9ball singles league in a couple of days

race to 11 racks

About 15 confirmed so far .. We get the fixtures then mutually agree on a time to play

Table time isn't an issue

Just wondering if there is anything you guys can enlighten me with to help

I don't have a pool cue just a snooker cue and although a snooker cue is ok(ish) on a 8uk table it's not for a 9ball table..

Thanks

You want a cue with at least a 9mm tip, if you want to take it seriously get a break off cue as well.

If your positional play is good be aggressive, if you're not so good positionally play passive. Practice your plants.

If you want a cue for an american table 9mm is too small and completely unnecessary. 11mm is probably the lowest you want to go as any smaller then the difference will be negligible.

If it was me I'd go for around 12mm.

Have a google for billiards boutique. UK based and sell cheap-ish well made American cues.

I agree with this, my snooker cue is 9mm, bowl shaped tip, never understood why some like the mushroom style tip (e.g Peter Ebdon) but if it works for them, who am I to criticise.

And my breaking pool cue for american tables is 14mm, and my playing cue is a 12mm.

When I play 8uk, I mainly use my snooker cue with the shorter butt on the end

The biggest hint/tip people have missed out on giving you is....

pot the 9 ball!

I thought it was:

hit balls with the thin end
people with the thick end
