Update 1: I figured out why it wouldnt register java as being installed while online! (boy do i feel smart right now..)
Example:As you can see here, right above "Ok" and "Cancel" it shows, Java in the browser is enabled! Problem was, before it was NOT enabled. That was the problem, which is fine, but i still can NOT get online.
Update 2: I am now getting the "Error click for details" message again. you can see the black screen in the background of the pic above
These are the "Details" that it ask's you to click..
Java Plug-in 10.45.2.18
Using JRE version 1.7.0_45-b18 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = C:\Users\parish
----------------------------------------------------
c: clear console window
f: finalize objects on finalization queue
g: garbage collect
h: display this help message
l: dump classloader list
m: print memory usage
o: trigger logging
q: hide console
r: reload policy configuration
s: dump system and deployment properties
t: dump thread list
v: dump thread stack
x: clear classloader cache
0-5: set trace level to <n>
----------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone,
I had this problem too, and here is what I did:
Removed the Java installation
Downloaded the offline version of Java from here: Java Downloads for All Operating Systems
I'm running Vista so I also turned off "Use User Account Control (UAC)" found via Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts. After this Windows MUST be restarted.
After restarting I disabled my internet connection
Turned off any and all anti virus, anti spam bot anti spyware and so on software
Installed the offline version of Java
Turned anti-everything back on
Ran the Java test found here: How do I test whether Java is working on my computer?
heres something i found on the net, try if this works

Ok, so for 1 i did NOT go just to http://www.java.com for a fresh install, as i had done that nearly a dozen times this week and last weekend, so i decided to go a different route, and if anybody mentioned this, sorry.
I went here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7-downloads-1880261.html
Downloaded: Windows x64 29.27 MB jre-7u45-windows-x64.exe
Now i thought for sure it would work, from this:
I am still getting the Error click for details (black screen)
