I've been using this site for a long time now (not as often now due to baby) and it has become a very unpleasant place to be.

Its all the same faces day in day out who play for medals and ranking and when doing this these people become very bitter and rather arrogant and cheeky when they get beat or put under pressure.

I had to change my user name and deactivate my old account just so i can come on here and play for fun.

Anyway

If this was my site my first moves would be
> Get rid of all Micro Tournaments
These are taking up a lot of time and dragging players into a war of Tournapoints thus reducing actual available games to play at any given time.

> No Chat During Play.

I feel this will greatly increase this sites feeling as players wont be able to chat constantly through games and will only be able to chat when the game has finished and awaiting next game.

> Remove Silly Arcade Games
Arcade games are just stupid. Nuff said on that matter

> Remove Golf
Remove the golf and kinda force folk into playing actual games

What you guys and gals think ?

Starting from the bottom up...

Removing golf...

I wouldn't remove it I would instead add new holes and new designs, people have already figured this course out, and that is what makes it boring, if you don't like it don't play it. Not many people play this anyway so not taking players away from "actual games".

Removing Arcade games...

These games are played as much as the regular types, I don't see any need to remove them doing so would just anger more players and make more leave for unnecessary changes.

No chat during play...

It's called a chat box for a reason, simple. Just put your opponents or anyone in the room on ignore until the games have finished. Although an option to turn chat off during games in the options bar may be a good idea for those who want it. But there are far more who would rather have chat during games than those who wouldn't.

Get rid of Micro tournaments...

Completely agree here, they are pointless. We should go back to the 1 tournament per hour and make them friendly again, the game was a much better place and more fun and there were less who took it so serious.

Its really pointless imo. Say someone logs on they are logging on for a reason arent they ? to play pool. So you take away Golf as an option the player will most certainly enter into an available game room, make a game room or enter an hourly tournament which i feel will increase population.

This site was better and busier pre arcade era FACT. Take the people who log on and play arcade I reckon take those games away and the same players will still log on and play the big 4.

I feel that chat during games is the biggest issue with this site. Far too many insults and arrogant people on here. Take away the chat during a game and nearly instantly the place becomes more enjoy full which will increase the amount of people wanting to play. New players dont want to come on here and be targeted by the put off tactics and verbal attacks that go on in i bet 80% of games. The simply wont want to come on as much.

If the verbal abuse etc goes on in 80% of your games I think you need to take a look at how you conduct yourself then. I only have to deal with it in less than 5% of my games.

As for arcade games, you saying it was better before is your opinion not fact. An opinion which I share but it was also better before straight, was also better before ranked tournaments, before the micro tournaments.

People leave as they have other things come up in life things change and they have other priorities. I doubt some who have left because of work, a baby, moving house, or just got bored, will come back if you take arcade games away.

Removing golf will achieve nothing. There have only been 7 people play it in the last 15 hours, and given the scores they posted I doubt many of them played more than once.

I never said 80% of my games. But almost every game i played last night in the 8uk marathon i got folk telling me how useless i was and shots were all nothing but pure luck oh and not forgetting the earlly gg's and put off tactics. I treat people the way they treat me and as you will have seen with the game you watched with DVZ i was nothing but polite and well mannered.

If you read my post right you would of seen that i said
""This site was better and busier pre arcade era FACT""

Thats not fact ? im pretty sure it is.

Yeah people leave and the likes due to circumstances but where are the new players ? there arent any. Old players go no new ones in. This site is slowly and surely dying.

Your fact about better and busier before arcade is a pile of poop though, if you check the game counter on the site (which i can't find again) you would see that arcade games are catching up with everything else as some people enjoy them more. Players with not to much calibre stand a chance in their and to be fair i can play with the best and beat them but i enjoy the odd arcade game.

Your fact is nothing more than your opinion really. You been a member on this account for six months and only now you post all of this. Your take on things has been said many times by others so maybe you should read the forum before posting something that has been echoed by so many people

Also, even if it was busier before arcade (which it wasnt- the numbers on pool have declined for a while now), that wouldnt mean arcade is at fault...

lots of people are playing arcade. What they would do if arc was gone is pure speculation.

all in all braveheart i think youve answered your own posts

if you dont like to chat dont, if you dont like or choose to see the other players comments click ignore thats simple

as for arcade and golf, simply dont play

micros etc, its peoples choice to play them, points gives it a competitive edge, again dont play in them if you dont like them

if you just want to play there are plenty of people in non-tournaments

there are less players on funky and you cant tell how many players their really is anymore, because the amount of multiple accounts, you generally find the abuse comes from these multiple accounts, very strange funkypool cant seem to stop banned players stay off this site anymore.

A very good point ^^^.
I would imagine the amount of footfall on the site, has a bearing on how much a company is willing to pay to advertise on here.
Which in turn, maybe means it's in the site owners best interest's to allow as much traffic as possible.

Just scrap it all and we can just sit in members bar!

Then again ppl will be complaining of multiple accounts and members talking to themselves to make it look like they have friends

Site isnt great but as people have said if you dont like certain games don't play them, and if you dont like chat during games put people on ignore when you play them.
Personally i like a little chatter most of the time but have had my fair share of crap in games. Generally from players who i beat (yes it does happen) tho then get moody lol.
Oh well :)

This is my opinion - love it or hate it, it is my opinion

There are too many people that wont chat in game, I understand that eight years ago there was many people in chat and most nights you would have to go into the members bar and wait to get in the main chat room. There are hardly any ranked games any more, as people are in one of the many tournaments that are on offer.

Upon writing this, 11.32am, there are 32 members online and 7 ranked games and 7 tournament games in progress or able to join. The emphasis on tournapoints seems to have aided with the demise as there are hardly any ranked games any more.

The fact that newbies come on and take 7 points off a higher ranked opponent also assists with the emphasis being on the micro tournaments as these newbies can gain high rankings in a very short space of time, a lot quicker than if they played ranked games in fact.

So to sum up, I think that we need to cut down on the amount of tournaments, definitely cut down on the points that *cough* newbies win in said tournaments, and make funkypool fun again removing the emphasis that it is all about rankings, and this in turn may get people talking to each other in game again.

Remember boys and girls this is strictly my opinion so please retract your claws and play nice

I would like to add that you get no consistency with players too, as you create a game, you get 2 or 3 games with that player, then they clear off to win their share of the 80 micropoints on offer for the micro arcade 8 ball speed tournament, also knowing that they can win as many points from that 1 game than they could in the 2 against me.

Don't forget that any tournament games are ranked games. And they are ranked games of the best kind - where you have no control over who you are playing against.

That said, having an option of automatically paired rank games which were at the same rank weighting as tournament games, but in which you could play as many racks as you wanted, would be another or a better option.
