This is simple (if it can be done) and it involves not losing full ranking points if you lose a game by not getting a shot in that frame.
If you lose a frame to a run out/golden break, there is absolutely nothing you did wrong/can do to stop it, so why lose full points for it? For example a player ranked 700 gets a GB vs a player ranked 840, player ranked 840 loses 7 points for nothing. When statistically speaking the player ranked 840 would of gone on to win the frame if that hadn't happened.
Think something should be done about it, but it's fine for the winning player to receive full points obviously.

I've just realised I've put 'and' twice in the thread title, can a mod change it please?

Yes sniper, but least then they'd have a shot. Chris is saying "not losing full ranking points if you lose a game by not getting a shot in that frame".......... Means, if your opponent breaks, either clears or gets a GB, s/he gets full points, but you don't lose out.
Good point Chris. Hopefully someone will come along with some feedback onto why this can/'t happen.

I agree wit what he is saying, and I understand, I was simply pointing out a fact lol

Like Chris said statistically the 840 player would win going by stats!

I totally disagree with this, rank means absolutely nothing on here.
You make a fair point bacon, it is a bit unfair to lose the same amount of points in a game you didn't get a chance to win, especially when It's a GB anyway!!

I like this idea. You should lose less points, or even none at all, until you've taken a shot.
Could apply to DQ's too, like missing an invite in a tourny ( a partial loss in this case, there should be some consequence for missing your invite).

if u lowered points lost, u'd have to lower points gained.
Does it seem fair to get less points for winning by running out then if you won in 2 visits?
You just gotta suck it in and applaud, even for the lucky runs in 9 and gb's

to the point above about DQ's, I think that technically you don't lose as many points when it comes to a best of 3 games tourny (correct me if I'm wrong), as it's a single loss when ya don't weigh in instead of a 2 game loss.
as for Golden Breaks and Runouts when ya don't even get a shot, well, it's part of the game, and has to be expected!
Don't really see anything that needs fixing tbh

Noone suggested lowering the points gained, I don't see why you would have to.
There's already often a 0.1 difference between the winner and loser of a game. ( I've noticed the winner is normally awarded slightly more than the loser has taken away.)
You just gotta suck it in and applaud, even for the lucky runs in 9 and gb's
No disagreement there, and I do Just think it would be nice if the ranking system recognized when someone didn't get a chance. (and lowered what they lost, not what the winner got)

That wouldn't need to happen, the points gained should stay the same, just don't think it's fair to lose full points for not getting a shot. I couldn't imagine it happening to me twice in a tournament match, not only going out by only getting a shot in 1 frame, but losing so many points aswell
