Hi,
I'm looking to purchase a newer laptop, my price range goes up to £450. I have the Samsung NP350V5C 15.6-inch Laptop (Silver) (Intel Core i3 2370M 2.4GHz, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD, I'd like a newer and faster one.
Can anyone recommend one for me please?

I think the one that you have now is pretty good. You can get faster than that, but eventually it will get progressively slower.
If I was you, I would buy a Solid State Drive. A SSD is a hard drive but it has no physical moving parts in it. It is basically just a huge chuck of circuit board that stores all your stuff on it and reads/writes much faster.
I don't know if these numbers mean much to you, but my SSD reads at 550Mb/s and writes at 510Mb/s. Whereas a HDD (a hard drive with moving parts) reads & writes at about 126Mb/s generally. So a SSD is sometimes 5 times faster.
If you got a SSD you'd need to reinstall your Operating System (Windows 7/Vista I presume). You would also need to replace your Hard Drive.
Here's a video explaining how:
There are a few downsides to having a SSD though. The only thing I can think of is the smaller disk space. They generally come in 80gb, 120gb, 240gb and 420+gb. With me I have an external hard drive as well as my SSD.
Here's a reliable SSD by the same manufacturer as mine. I find them very reliable: http://www.ebuyer.com/387080-sandisk-128gb-pulse-ssd-slim-sdssdp-128g-g25
I hope this helped a little bit

The ram is smaller, but the processor is better so i would say it's faster because the processor usually determines the speed

As I said before, steer clear of Toshiba and have one and its pure cack!
I did some reading a while ago about increasing the speed of laptops and flapjack's SSD description is right (based upon my research) and I was going to invest in one.
Stick with Sony and just increase the screen size, deffo look into the SSD thing though.

Ok yeah I will look into the SSD, Im probably going to go for the Acer one bigger hard drive and larger RAM, also the one I have atm doesn't really have any super graphics so the Acer has dedicated graphics. Maybe buying a white laptops not the greatest of ideas too considering I smoke would turn yellow lol after a while.
