Would it be feasible to do a world ranking type thing on here?

By this I mean it would be based on 'overall' scores and wherever you are placed on there would be your ranking. It can be a similar thing like is done in tennis, with a player's seed for tournaments etc. Also like the seeds in the Players Championship on here.

I thought it could work by doing a weekly take of a player's overall score at any given point (maybe midnight on a Sunday) and the rank that player has will remain for a whole week until the new rankings are taken. Don't know if I've explained this well, any questions just ask, but if the ranks were to be taken right now, scott7a would be ranked 1st, beenjammin 2nd, and I would be 21 for example.

Think it would be good, and perhaps something for players to work towards, and play games they normally wouldn't play to help increase their overall rank.

Hmm, it appears what I was thinking of was the recording of the maximum overall rank reached not the actual ranking. It looks like it has been touched on before but I cannot see any definitive answers. I suppose this could be done, however the maximum overall that you reach cannot be stored.

Yeah it's not the storing of the overall rank I was getting at.

A point I didn't mention in the original post was that these rankings should come with you to games you play i.e. in brackets next to your name in the game window, and on tournament pages (although I know tournament wins are already in brackets here). If I was any good at photo editing I'd do a screenshot of a game as an example and whack it in, but I hope I show what I mean from this

I know what you mean and I like the concept of it. Trouble is, it could be quite a pain to be implemented for a small change. i.e. would nick think it was worth the effort

I suppose, but it has to be noticed first, and I think it will be a massive improvement to the game. Every sport has its players/teams ranked, and that is primarily the point of sport - to be the better than everyone else at your game. Why should it be different here?

I reckon that would bring about many's a good battle about the tables initially due to the race to become the 1st to achieve top status of 1 or more of the formats.

I suppose it's even more hard work to do it for each type, but that could work aswell.. But I mean the overall scores, to be the best alrounder. I know some people have their favourite types and some don't even play some types, but to be 'the best' I think it should be based on all games types available in the game. The games would average each other out so to speak, so if you're right up there, your strongest game type will help you out the most, but your average score will be brought down by your weaker type/s.

This then gives you the motivation/challenge to improve on your weaker games to improve your ranking further
