I think the chances of this being implemented is slim based on the fact that it seems Nick is not reading anything that has been put on the forums as of late.
However i actually think it is a good idea, not sure how it would work though as in fairness it can be a very long tournament if enough people enter. You get 22 minutes? to finish just one frame, so maybe instead of adding an extra frame to it why not make the 35 ball count be a 70 ball count or something?
Either that or you could just have the normal race to one frame then maybe the semi and final as a race to two?
