Do you see a problem with the above? I seriously would like feedback on why some players find it so bad, they resort to abusive comments when you use your head to win a frame. Surely you should be allowed to play your own game, and snookers and tactics are part of it. Why do you have to attempt a pot when you will just be throwing the game away. There are some brilliant potters on here so it is foolhardy to try and out pot them, no? So why not try and outwhit them? Love the site and the games, and the vast majority of players are very polite and courteous, even in defeat. Opinions?

I don't mind snookers up to a point, but when it gets to be every other shot then it becomes extremely frustrating and annoying.

it depends how the table lies, on the UK table its quite an occurance since you get 2 shots, US its not so quite and flukeball is most difficult to get 3 fouls in a row especially by snookers.

if your a type what likes to go for runouts, if you don't get it then you need to be expected to be snookered or you can do it to them.

for me it depends on the table situation and knowing when to attack and when to defend

But surely that is part of it tho broxi, frustrating the potter, forcing him/her to make errors, not play into his hands and attempt to out pot him? Its all part of the game.

It gets annoying when opponent takes it out of line, I've played someone on 8 Ball UK and they had 3 yellows left and had a carry - all perfectly pottable. But they tapped it, over and over for some reason. Other than that don't really mind snookers, as I can usually get out of 90% of them

Then that is understandable, i agree. I find on UK 2 shots is game so snookers are invaluable, so why not? Must say when i lose its GG so perhaps snookers are ok if you lose, just cant understand why an integral part of the game is frowned upon by a few.

I don't mind snooker/tactics.

There is the UK game though i have came across a few that need constant carry to even win the game, that is frustrating but at the same time i will do what i need to do to win the game.

If most of the people on here used tactics then there game would certainly improve, im more tactful when it comes to 8US though and sometimes 9US.

I dont mind them, all part of the game.

Except the 8US table with deliberate fouling can get annoying but hey all tactics

at the end of the day with the right tactics you can beat the better players even if that does mean playing many snookering shots

Same Jay

Although sometimes, I don't feel confident to clear, so I play a safety game.

I think you're right, dementia; snookers and tactics are part of the game.

I think that to play a snooker is, by implication, to play an intelligent shot. For this reason I absolutely hate roll-ups in 8 Ball UK as they are shots devoid of brain power.

Any other type of snooker is very frustrating to play against, but they are part of the game and so those with a problem need to do one of two things:

a) get over it.

b) become a better player.

Afterall we all gotta start somewhere... and learning to control the white ball off cushions (out of snookered positions) is part of that learning curve.

Not sure what you meant by "tactics", but I also hate seeing players tap the white ball against a ball on the cushion in 9 Ball or Killer and intentional fouls in 8 Ball, as these shots are also devoid of brain power.

hmm the best way to play 8us is snooker! think about it.....
when a player has 2 or 3 balls around one corner and you have several shots to make but a few of your balls are there to, then the wise choice is to keep them from potting am i right? howeverbe prepared for some luck from the other player lmao, and p.s. dont get mad when i do it more than likely ill leave that game and they will do it to me, im sure this happens to the best of us?

Considering 3 consecutive fouls is one method to win a 9-ball game, it's perfectly acceptable to snooker on every single shot!

^ to attempt to maybe, but i've had players who everytime they tried to snooker me - i'd get out of it. It just becomes funny.

If i snooker, it is usually to force my opponent to hit my balls after there's to allow me a clearance rather than going for a foul (in uk)

I've no problem with snookering within reason, but I much prefer to clear. Can be annoying when I'm trying for a runout and mess up, leave an easy table for someone to clear and they just play a snooker straight away. No real skill in it.

I find snookers a lot harder than potting actually. I would say the real skill is playing good snookers- everyone can pot.

I would say potting when snookered (when intentional) is probably the hardest thing to do. Wouldn't say snookering is more skillful than potting, it's a different skill. One relies on your own ability, one on both yours and your opponents.

When we started out playing this game, each and every one of us was a bad potter, played on and got better. Same applies to snookers; snookers take skill to get (with the exception of in 8UK) and skill to get out of... i think they're an enjoyable extra eliment to the games.

I think the best games come from when two players are on the same wavelength - so both players going for the clearance on the break shot and running the rack one after the other, or two players going very tactically and cautious. Sometimes even a contest between a potter and a snookerer can result in good games when both players are still on the same wavelength (I had a pretty good UK final against its_me which was largely potting vs safety play - and adaptation from both players)
