Earlier i was in the 9 Ball Marathon Tournament and i lost a few games due to some really flukey combos and shots

And the player i lost to was much lower ranked then me but i lost 6.8 points or something like that

But when i won against him i earned 1.7 points

Obviously players higher ranked are better players then those lower ranked but for flukes to occur theres nothing we can do about them!

Is there any kind of tournament format were higher ranked players are drawn against eachother at the beginning of a tournament?

im not sure about all the higher ranks being drawn at the start, but i know how you feel as not so long back i was ranked in the 800s and a dip in form and some bad luck against me has seen me fall to the low 700s, i do feel that something needs to be done about how much you lose. And before the attacks start this is only my opinion lol

I won a few flukey shots off you before now if you was the rank im at or higher that would really have annoyed you like it annoys everybody

I do think the point reduction for losing a game to a lower ranked player especially in a flukey situation is just wrong

Yes i moan about this also but then you have to remember when you was ranked 675 and you played a person in a tournament who was ranked maybe 780 - 800 and you beat him .. lol :P not saying you personally just saying no doubt it has happened

Well no lol the new rules was introduced when my rank was the way it is now maybe a little higher but still...

Its one of those rules that should have been introduced at the start of funkypool was first created an not half way through

Is annoying but the double points for tourney wins lets you get up to the high ranks with a couple of decent tourney wins also so I always think rank is 'easy come, easy go'

Although thats true but why in ranked games are points won much lower then they are in tournaments?

Because nick wanted more importance placed on tourneys.

Ive had this arguement before TournaPoints when they first came onto the scene i remember there was around 1,500 TournaPoints up for grabs for each tournament depending on how many people joined, and it was like that for pretty much every tournament going, were as these days you'll be lucky to see 700 TournaPoints up for grabs

Not just flukeyness tho, you get some players ranked 650 who play like they should be ranked 850 haha, alls fair for losing but again losing 6points+ is a bit unreal :P annoying but ya just end up putting up with it, i've been more up and down than a yo yo with my rankings xD

like you beat me 3 - 1 in us final, i lost 10points for a 2game difference, your not that much lower in ranks than me that was a bit weird :L

If you enter a tournement and no-body else enters it... does it count as 1 tournement win... you know when people get (1) next to there names when entering another tournement??

yes but that never happens with ranked tournament. It happens more with friendlies, but they dont count
