hi all .. got a lap top with no sound ie there is a cross over the sound icon and the troube shooter dosent fix it any ideas ...

Could be a problem with the drivers.

First of all, though, double check that the speakers aren't on mute.

I deleted my HDaudio driver by accident while cleaning up my computer and i emptyed my rec bin so its not possible to get it back do you have any suggestions i am using windows xp

Firstly Rick he only has no sound so clearly more likely a driver issue.... formating the pc is a silly idea. Especially as he doesn't even have the operating system to put on.. umm

Before you try anything drastic
Try something simple sorry if it's being pre-mentioned but have a crack at it anyways:
Follow these Step my step!
Press Start
Then Run
Then type in - services.msc
Scroll down to 'Windows Audio' right click properties
Make sure startup type is selected to 'Automatic'and also under 'Service Status' Start is selected!
This fix's alot of common sound problems
