i have noticed that if the ball is on the cushion it is easy to pot it in the middle back, as if their is sum sort of air sucking it in lol.
yet wen i visited funkysnooker i noticed that the pockets have JAWS exactly the same as real pool tables, How come this is not made/ adapted onto FUNKYPOOL as it wud make the game more authentic and lifelike.
Many Thanks

Well I'll just quote my post from the link you provided there :

A very good point regarding the stats, some people have over 7 years of stats built up on the core table.

The UK table has such a long history on the sites, dating back way before funkypool to poolsharks, and whilst it has recently had a big cosmetic revamp, the gameplay has never changed, and shouldn't. Why change the one thing that has indisputably worked all this time.

Other tables have come and gone, and will continue to do so. By all means we can try introducing another "pro" UK table, but I think we can all guess what will ultimately happen

Surely changing tables would mean wiping most of the old stats though? Like say someone gets 4 runouts and in all of them you slide a ball accross the rail into the middle, would you now have to void that out?

So therefore if that did happen I would lose over 200 runouts onua would lose over 800 tournaments?

Not a good idea really, why fix something that isn't broken? It has been good for all this time so why change it after 10 or 11 years (I think)?

cant really say it makes a difference to the whole complexity of the game. Afterall if it happens against you then it is equally as likely for you to do the same thing. Personally i like pool the way it is and i agree with mich above.

I have always been for a new uk table.

If one was ever introduced your stats would transfer over the same as the stats for old US8 and US9 pro transferred onto existing US8 & US9 versions.

I still think a UK8 pro table would be more likely and keep the existing one due to its 'history'.

I think if you had 2 uk tables, existing one and pro, you would need 2 seperate stats, a new pro table with pockets similar to the us table would make it a total different game.
All them runouts people have been getting would've been alot harder without the existing pockets.

You would get 8 ball UK game on a 8 ball US table. The pockets are naturally much bigger, lol, and that's how it is and how everyone is used to. Besides, it also has it's advantages/drawbacks, whateverm when white is even close to the pocket, it falls down, lol.

I like the game as it is, and as some1 sad up there, it's the same for everyone.

Ahh it's that time of year and this has reared its ugly head again.

I've always objected to changing the table on the UK game, and that hasn't changed. However, I think we should have a new UK game added, mimicking the 8 ball table but with UK balls and rules.

Don't like how people are trying to come along and ruin 8/9 years of success.. we don't need a new UK table, if you don't like it go play US.

This game used to be UK 8 ball only, and by my account attracted a lot more members to the game. Seems to me like their isn't as many members online compared to then, and we used have 40-60, maybe even more entering a UK tournament at one time, as opposed to the 20 or so we get these days. This game would be nothing without the UK table as it is.

yeh im not saying to change it, to erase stats etc.
Personally im just trying to hone on the realism of the game, and its almost like being able to score everytime from a corner on a football game.
I personally see it as a glitch, however i suppose it is not a disadvantage as it works both ways.
I can see the current formula works well, just dont understand how the US version of the game, has a more real, glitch-free style, and if it was changed then maybe people would have to worry more about setting up their next shot, rather than hitting and hoping, or relying on the glitch of the middlebag.
Many Thanks

^^ Over the past 10+ years there have been various tables that have come and gone, the original US tables were very different to the ones we have now.

The one table which has consistantly been popular through all of this is the UK table. As mentioned above, it itself recently underwent a cosmetic revamp.

Me and my flatmate were bored at our flat a few weeks back, so I suggested a few games of funkysnooker/pool, now he is a very keen UK 8 ball player and well... his face when I potted a ball along the cushion into the middle pocket was a picture to behold.

A look of shock and disgust I would describe it as.

Well as soon as I saw the table I knew it was possible. The holes were bloody eating the table, lmao

Seems to me 8uk is a very marmite game. People either love it or hate it, not many in the middle. I personally hate it, but then I started the game on snooker playing original where if you lose position its break over.

I don't think they should change it though, its only 1 game and 8us, 9, killer and straight are all played on the more realistic table, so the skew is massively that way.

the one thing on the table I would change is the ball physics if you go over the edge of the middle in UK. at the moment nothing seems to happen but the ball should dip and run round the edge like a golf ball does when it hits the side of the hole. if you are going to have pockets that stick out into the table, the physics should be accurate! .
