im not sure if its possible to do rank by match rather than per game?

My only concern with my idea (with multiplying the ranking win/loss) is if we had a very large tournament (which is the idea), then rankings could be a seven or eight times the normal win/loss by the final...
But in theory, the person who won the tournament would deserve it.
You would have one massive winner...but you do in the major golf tournaments, Grand Slam Tennis tournaments etc
It wouldnt matter how big the multiplier is, the ranking system can cope easily as the same amount would be being lost.
I really like the progressive risk idea. Nice one. I've alywas been keen on "mega" tournaments but they need something like that to make them more than an endurance test.

Thats good then...that was the one thing I was unsure about in my idea.
If we had large numbers, the final could have a x7 or even a x8 multiplier (depending on how many people entered of course)... it would put a big emphasis on fighting until the end of the match.

After all comment i am thinking on another type of tournament.
Example everyone who won 9 ball tournament in one month will enter the ultimate monthly tournament (we can call it Masters). They will be automatically registered. Same thing is for other disciplines. Everyone who unregister once from that tourney will not be able to register again.
We can make it first to 3 until final (except in str8 pool where 1 win is enough) and then the final would be first to 5 except in straight where shoulf be firt to 2 wins.
Because lot of players will win all type of tourney, think we should do like this:
every 1st in month is played Masters 9 ball tourney
every 2nd in month Masters 8 ball
every 3rd in month Masters 8 ball UK
every 4th in month Masters Straight pool
In this way you can allow to players to win gran slam (all four disciplines).
And in this way average joe who won some tourney can also participate.
Cheers!

I like this idea, but i think you should only be able to enter the specific tournament if you have so many tournament wins or so many rank etc

Hmm...not a bad idea but I think it would cause some more major problems; like a lot of byes being drawn.
Many people will not de-register if its not at a good time of day for them (regardless of where they live) and many people will simply forget that the tournament is on.
I think we have to stick to something that everyone who is online can join, and played out within those couple of hours.
