i have just finished a game of straight were i have penalised twice and dont believe i should have.
1 : the cue ball was tight to the pack so i played away and came of the top cushion, computer gave a foul for the cue ball not making contact with another ball even though its touching the pack??
2 : playing tip tappy and hit the cue ball of a colour and tight on the cushion, computer gave a foul for the cueball not coming off a cushion even though it was tight to it.

I imagine it has to make contact with another ball AFTER you take your shot, not before.
Was probably 1 pixel away from the cushion, that's just a stroke of bad luck.

I believe you are referring to the "Play Away" shot most commonly used in Snooker?
This is not currently a rule here on funkypool but a great idea to bring forward (Not on this thread though), but for now it is a valid foul shot.
You say tight to the cushion not touching the cushion, if the ball has not touched the cushion in any way then this is a foul.
EDIT: There is every chance the white ball was only a fraction from the cushion which is not even viewable to the naked eye.

Exactly as joker86 posted.
There is no touching ball concept on either funkypool or funkysnooker. Although it might be interesting, technically it's not needed on a computer game. First the ball logic makes it almost an infinitesimal chance that balls may end up touching (there's no dirt or other minor irregularities on either the ball or the cloth which keeps the balls together). Second, push shots will not occur.

To be fair Aaron, we shouldnt need a microscope to determine if a ball has touched a cushion or not.
Sometimes I find that a ball looks to be on a rail yet it is not touching. And then I can zoom in on the ball more and find that on the computer screen, it appears to be touching the cushion.
IMO, I don't think its fair if you are trying to play out of a difficult snooker or playing a very soft shot and you are given a foul for not touching the cushion when your eyes and computer screen suggests it is.

I agree flumpy, but there is a difference between touching the cushion and being tight to the cushion(No matter how far).

very true...but I still think for the sake of this computer game, if it looks like its touching the cushion (at normal zoom) then it should be classed as touching the cushion.
I have had a few fouls against me where the ball appears to be touching the cushion, but the game says it doesnt.
I know its a very 'small' issue in some regards but when you are talking about tournaments, with TournaPoints involved etc, it can mean a lot to some people.
But if the ball appears to be touching the cushion in the normal zoom on a standard computer screen, then the ball should be counted as touching.

Has also happened to me frequently, which is extremely frustrating as the image appears to be touching!!
But as many say, its the luck of how it is microscopically judged by the graphics
