a realistic update would be obstructed cueing , i.e your tight on the rail so can only hit the top of the ball ...or theres a ball in front of the cue ball so you cant hit it cleanly .......am i making myself clear .....comments please

I was thinking of bringing this topic up also, it's highly unrealistic being able to put full back spin on a ball when up against the cushion.... I'd be in favour of this.

apparently it has to be 3D for this to happen but id be in favour of it too.

I'm not sure it would require 3D but it would need you to have confirmed the direction of the shot you were going to play before deciding how much spin you were allowed to apply.
For example if you are up against the cushion you can still play a shot along the cushion where you are able to apply full back spin.

This has been mentioned many times and its not the game that would need to be in 3D, but to work properly it would require a major change to the game engine to take account of the verticle angle of the cue, hence the "3D" aspect.
Yes, it could be implimented under the assumption of a horizontal cue, but as you will see if you look at some of the other online pool games with this implimented you will see how unrealistic it is, much worse than what we currently have.

also, with the random shot time penalties it would be totally unrealistic as you wouldnt have time to mess about in 5 and 10 sec games......
i personally like the fact that you can pull off amazing shots that otherwise would be impossible.....
what i like about funkypool and snooker is whoever you are playing, you stand a chance - by making the game more "realistic" the best would get better and the rest would get bored!!!
Only my opinion though
Remember - although we try to make things as "real" as possible - when playing the real game, you dont have a cue ball size aimer to help you - if you want the game to be more realistic then i would suggest taking the aimer away - see how many balls you can pot then

Absolutely.
However, as I have often said, I think there would be no harm in trying a "simulation" option, though it would be a lot of work for potentially few players, where we had cue ball obstructions, color/pocket nominations, chalking the cue to avoid miscues and many other "advanced" options which dont fit the simple "pick up and play" styke of the existing games.

For realistic value yeah it would be a good update. Although when you think people left the game because making the balls shiny was a change too far, which I'm guess most people dont notice now, this would cause a massive uproar! I personally like it the way it is.
