I've always found this to be a flaw, as it creates a newbie player who as an opponent, you cannot guage their skill level, whether they are on form, off form etc. Below are possible changes that could be made, to decrease the effectiveness of Resetting, while still doing it's prime function of resetting the current rankings

- Max ranking is retained
- Win/loss percentage is retained
- Tournament wins are retained
- A Max overall rank is introduced and retained when reset (my personal favourite)

These could potentially help in the situation of a "Serial Resetter"

i wouldnt mind this tbh, but the wins/losses one i don't really agree with as people tend to reset to try and get win % high by 100 games or as in caroms case on snooker, highest turn success by 500 turns but i agree with the other 3, i keep a record on my profile on snooker as i reset once.

Then people will simply deactivate and go onto another account to get round this. No real point in this to be honest. The newbie modification is there to reduce the amount of points lost anyway in a game if that is the main issue.

If the issue is otherwise, then I see little need in this anyway.

How about when you reset you are classed as Intermediate instead of Newbie? and also have Max Ranks retained and/or Max Overall Rank?

I like the idea of keeping tournaments won and highest rank. After all I think this is to give the opponent a form of indication as to the ability of the resetter. Something is better than nothing, which we currently have. Overall win % I disagree with as this is the main reason people reset

If this got brought in which is highly doubtfully then you could have a stat called reset this could be out of all times you reset

Reset (Professional):

8 Ball Highest Rank: 800.0
9 Ball Highest Rank: 800.0
8 Ball UK Highest Rank: 800.0
Killer Pool Highest Rank: 800.0
Straight Highest Rank: 800.0
Overall Highest Rank: 800.0
Number of 9s in Mini Golf: 100
Tournament Wins: 100

Put Professional as it is your highest Overall rank after reset. The rank would only be updated if you beat your previous highest and not before. This is lines im thinking of if this ever got implemented which it won't.

you can put this on your profile i know but its a lot of letters and numbers for 1 stat.

Why not just put a permanent link on the players profile as to all previous accounts so you know who it is?

I believe this site still has a strictly no "name and shame" policy, so that wouldn't work. Also that doesn't show stats

With a link to a previous profile it could show stats, and lets be honest if someone gets banned they deserve to be named and shamed, maybe not what they did but their newer usernames should so people can see who it is.

But you can't guarantee who's account is who. Could be someone elses you live with, and also this wouldn't work on public networks.

The simplest way to "deal" with any of these issues is never to pay any attention to the rank or status of an opponent, and always play your best.

if all the resets etc etc are all going to go onto one account then i want it to be back dated along long time ago so i can sit highe on everything i've done.

Really against this idea who cares if a newbie is a hustler or a proper newbie end of the day if the ranks above 730 then you know somethings fishy lol.

Detest the idea completly and will always stand against it.

Well I have not played a rank game for a loooong time - so as it is there is no guage on how good I truly am. I might be better or worse than what my rank says I am.

I think if we kept the percentages of win and losses - because thats how can guage how good a player is.

If anything, we should get rid of the ranking system and have the rank dependent on win percentage - but that has its own disadvantages

Anyway, I think retain the percentages.
