There are times when the white is very close to the object ball (the ball u want to pot) and the aiming marker just gets in the way and the shot gets all fiddly as you try to move marker to suit.

A great option would be to switch off marker by use of a button for one shot shot only

Thoughts please

another daft idea you can see through the aiming marker so if the pot is possible anyone cappable of making the shot can already

you can also put the aiming marker past the ball to aim without it if the balls close to the object ball simples

You can.

Options >> Game >> Select shot cursor.

yes but in twenty seconds you havent time to change ur options - I'm saying just a button that de-selects for 1 shot

moving marker past balls works sometimes but not all the time

I agree with that there should be an option to remove the cursor fully im not sure if there is last i checked there wasnt, however de selecting for one shot is just a bit overboard lol, it aint hard to do in 20 secs with like 15 left to take the shot.

Would also give the more experienced users a new challenge

its the same when your lagging and use alternate cue control though, you still have to go to options in order to use it for those that do.

i have plenty of time in 20 secs, i can change my cursor in 3 seconds, put spin on in a second and still shoot before even 10 seconds is up, sometimes 15 with thinking time.

only time this isnt possible is 5 second games.

I don't get this at all.....in the scenario you describe, the aiming ball is already automatically hidden when moving your aiming point too close to the white.... Which is precisely what makes the shot difficult and why leaving the white close to the target ball is such a good tactic to make the shot hard for your opponent.

I must very clearly be misreading you somehow

Jan - there are just times when playing a shot that I would rather the marker isnt there (not for making life difficult for an opponent). Say you have inadvertently left the white too close to your next object (potting) ball. You try to line up and the marker flickers between being there and disappearing. Whilst disappeared you cannot take your shot. You phaff around trying to sort and clock ticks down. Much better to have button (like 9 ball push out) that de-selects marker for 1 shot only. Easy to implement given your knowledge of pc logic.

What would hiding the aimer entirely solve? You should obviously still not be allowed to position your aiming point closer to the white than the current limit - aimer visible or not... Aiming properly on a target ball that is very very close is hard in real life and this mimics that somewhat - something I feel is a good thing.

If I understand this right, you have nothing close to the cue ball when deselected?

If so, the easy option is to aim way away from the ball, therefore, you have nothing close to the object ball and cue ball.

in real life you wudnt have a marker / aimer - u wud just use your eyes - the aimer stops u doing that

Read my post again please.

The parallel to real life is that aiming when the target ball is too close is, just like here on funky, difficult. Therefore, funkypool mimicking this, intentionally or otherwise, is in my opinion a Good Thing (tm).

ok - I fully understand what you are saying but on a real table you wudnt have an aiming marker at all. Just mark one eye ball. If the option was there to deselect marker for one shot then people could choose.

Has my post just been bypassed?

Could you not just aim the marker the opposite end of the table, you would have no marker near the balls then

in some situations you can warney but there are times when this would be a good option. That said I understand the pros and cons being stated above

You clearly still do not understand what I wrote. The fact that you in real life aim with your eyes rather than a marker as here in this game is not relevant. The fact that both are difficult and therefore can be compared, is.

The way the aiming marker behaves when too close to the white is awkward and that's precisely how it ought to be
