Haven't posted on here in ages, not since the site was updated, so this one has probably been done.

But seriously, it's so irritating watching someone line up a shot only for their cue to jump to another position when they are applying spin to ball and then back again.

Maybe it's just me...

Nothing can be done about that as the game can't tell if you or whoever is going to use spin or not till you or whoever starts to add spin, i have seen at times where if you move the mouse fast to put spin on the cue will stop in it's tracks

But why can't the cue graphic stay where my opponent has it while he/she adds the spin. Why does it have to go back to some default position. Just when you think someone is about to shoot, the cue jumps off in another direction. Wrecks my head!

It's because the game does'nt know if you are moving the cursor to aim at a ball at the other side of the table or if you are going to add spin. The cue automatically tracks to where the cursor is positioned.

Ok that makes sense. I'd rather not see my opponents cue at all then.

cant you have it so that the cue is only showing when they click for their shot?

It doesn't go to any default position. Actually, it behaves precisely like your own cue does when you line up your own shots:

As long as you move your cursor around ON the table (as in aiming) the cue will follow that direction at all times (the updates may seem a bit laggy though, but that's sensible priorities - you don't want to bog down network traffic by spamming the cue angle at 50Hz rates either...)

The moment you move the cursor OFF the table (which you do when you move down to apply spin), the cue stays pointing toward the last known aiming position, typically toward the edge of the table wherever your mouse cursor exited the table.

There isn't really any better way it could behave in either - when you leave the table to mess around with spin, the cue doesn't have anything better to do than point at whatever aim point you last had - which is at the edge of the table where you exited when going for the spin adjustment...

Yes, that was cleared up by a previous poster, but thanks.
So is there any way of turning off the cue graphic? I don't remember it being so prominent in the old version. Hardly a worthwhile update?

Not for your opponents cue. You can only show or hide your own cue.

Oh, well that's rather self-defeating.
Ok, thanks for your help, I'm done complaining now!

I definitely agree there ought to be an option for suppressing opponent cue.

In fact, there ought to be an option for suppressing the sharing of "cue data" from your own user since it can be quite revealing in terms of teaching others how you play.

Maybe have the cue "activated" only when the mouse is clicked and/or dragged back?

Would work, but then again would be a pretty pointless feature.

Showing the cue, particularly the opponents' is fluff I really wish Nick hadn't added in the first place - then again it's a nuisance and hardly the end of the world either.

it help if you have to hit it lightly though so you can see how far away the cue is from the ball

Yeah you need to see your own cue when actually making the shot - like you always have been able to, but that's a different ballgame entirely.
