Right been doing research for you people. found from a mate doing A level gameing and pc technology



Its to do with the video game card which is inbuilt into the pc's, its an over use of the card. e,g on for 4 hours solid same game, with all this codeing causes it to black screen as sort of a fuse based idea Once its overloaded hits into black screen stops it working (just like a fuse, it cuts the circuit) there's no way of stopping this problem, even if you was to get a mac, or any other decent computer - problem will always be there just delayed to appear or start constantly happening, also just like if java takes a while to load.

Only solution is closing the game browers/internet then reloading every 30mins-1/2hours
causes the game card to reboot itself so to speak and start a fresh memory with out all the stuff its copied i.e java codeings.

only problem to this theory is, I've been on this site for 12+ hours constantly before, without ever leaving the game window, as we both know lol. I've left my pc on all day more times than I havent, and last summer and the summer before I played an average of 8-10 hours a day, hightops will deffo vouch for me on this....and I've never once had a problem with the game, no black screens, no white screens, few connection time outs (but a hell of a lot less than most), admittedly I have a top of the range pc, but I've never had any problems on any of my laptops either, always seemed fine to me lol

P.S. also used a windows 95PC, very poor system, but never had any problems on there either lol.

as stated above, problems come thick and far, hard to tell when they happen or if they will, some computers may go forever and not have a single fault, others will have a fault every other week, unfortunatly not all the game cards have exact life spans, or if there is any problem with them, i'm not going to go into details as it even confuses me when i try to explain the problems from the inbuilt system into the game card, all very complex but im aware this will be 90% of the time the problem.

just seems strange to me that the problems only happen to people when using funkypool, well I believe most people post saying they only have this problem on here.

Surely if there was a "game card" fault, then it wouldn't just only happen on fp, it would fry the card in minutes if you played a high spec game...e.g. call of duty, counter strike source, gunz etc.

If it happened on those games too, then I would believe it, but for a low processing speed online game, like funkypool (no offence intended nick, it is a great game) I can't bring myself to finding it a plausible reason as a reason for the problem.

I think seeking "professional help" (no offence Matt) would be the best thing to do if problems are occuring, maybe expensive, but it's better to find out what's causing it, even if it turns out that it is as matt said, I'd happily pay for a new game card.

May be a reason Matt, but I'm not buying it at the mo, it would happen with all games on the higher end of the gaming spectrum, not just here.

btw, I'm not saying you're wrong, it may well be the reason, just seems to be a bit too far fetched for my liking

Funkypool certainly won't cause any modern GFX card to overheat

The "black screen" is usually caused by a background java update. It happens every few months both here and on snooker. The same old routine of removing ALL instances of Java, clearing browser histories including downloaded program files/add-ons, rebooting, and reinstalling Java will work most of the time.

However, occasionally there are conflicts between Java updates and certain browsers, or graphics card drivers.

However, if you're still having problems after updating both your graphics drivers and browser, rolling back to the previous version of Java will sort it in the interm (remember to turn off automatic updates.


Now the big question - "A level gaming?"

Exactly, like said above, surely the games you play which you download or whatever would make the card simply overheat instantly if what was said is correct.

it isnt my problem i deal with it, i rarely even log on now to play a game mearly stay in touch with people via the forums and messages, currently studying into it more as to why it happens and how it can be stopped for good, will probs take at least a year or 2 but as spinner said above java re-installings work to a certain extent

will we ever get down to the bottom of this though! unless someone is a wizzkid i dont think we will although i have faith in you matt.. but 1/2 years can we make it 1/2 month :D
