Ok here i go...
I have this problem on my laptop which is rather annoying....the problem is say i open my computer or my documents the window freeze, but the whole computer still works, the window that i just open freeze and i cant access anything!
Now i have been told to reboot to factory settings, but if i do i lose all my documents in my documents because i can't open up the folder to put the documents onto and external hard drive.
Does anyone have any ideas!

Okay, so basically your computer is freezing up when you try to open..
-My Computer
or
-My Documents
What happens when it freezes? e.g. error messages etc.

I have come across a problem that sounds like this before, is it a case of the windows you open you can't click on anything? for example the window opens you can't close it or select anything in it but 'ctrl alt del' still works and clicking on start still works?, if so it sounds like a mouse/touch pad problem? if it isn't that then please provide more detailed info and we'll see what we can do.

its possible that you have downloaded something that has worked its way into your files some antivirus programs wont find these have u got your vista or xp disk ? if so reboot your computer with it all ur files will go into windows old file and u can access them through there

Which Antivirus are you using?
Norton and McAfee are both known to cause this bug in some Vista configurations.
If you haven't, try updating both Vista and your Antivirus. If it still happens, disconnect from the net, and uninstall your antivirus, reboot, and if everything runs OK, install AVG!
