ukpoolking did bring it up about how many pots to get to in a tournament.
But is there a possibility that if theres to be a straight pool speed Tournament were its first to win 1 rack or in a marathon Tournament fist to say 50 pots?
Any ideas on this subject?

I think speed tournaments would work and be more popular but marathon straight tournaments could take far too long

I'm with cool on that, the marathon tourno would take to long.
Just say a round starts at the same time as one of the 8 ball tourno round (race to three) starts, all games in 8ball would be finshed while in straight there are two players both ranked inter it could take a long time to finish

Now I'm not an expert and I didn't program the game, but my understanding would be that the game of straight pool on Funkypool is set to first to 35 and cannot vary (just as 9 ball is set to potting the 9 to win and cannot vary), so the only way to implement a first-to-50 straight tournament would be to have a different type of straight game.
Of course, they could be done behind the scenes, as it were; a marathon game of straight (i.e. first to 50) might be, as far as the internal workings are concerned, a different game type (as different as 9 ball or killer in terms of it being a "different" game type"), but the stats from a marathon straight tourney could easily be "added" to the regular stats.
Does any of that make any sense?

i think that if you are going to have a marathon straight tournament, you would need to reduce the shot clock to a maximum of 15 seconds.
otherwise we would be playing a tournament for around 4 hours.

i like the idea of the speed tournament but the marathon idea will never work as it would take tooo long.
it is long enough in a normal straight tounament as it is.
