Really annoyed all......
1 - 0 up in tourney then started getting screen freezes etc etc to the extent that i lost 2 - 1....
wouldnt have minded so much, but with only 2 balls left it timed me out and gave my opponent a straight black.....
this has to be the most frustrating thing.....
why does it happen??????

First of all, people use the term lag about two completely separate issues.
1: Computer lag
The symptoms are typically stuttering ball animation, cue control etc. In short, the graphics you see on your screen do not flow as nicely as they should.
This is virtually always a problem with your computer, either it has too much to do (running other things in the background) or you have a software problem or another making it work less effectively than it ought to.
No computer from the last 5 years should really have problems running this game nicely, so either it's overworked or needs the software (including the operating system) checked out or reinstalled. Drivers (typically for your graphics card) are also quite common the guilty party here.
2: Network lag (or latency if you will)
This never leads to any sort of jumpy graphics at all. The symptoms are more typically players hanging at 0 sec shot time remaining etc, with nothing apparently happening. Eventually you may see a "Player A not responding", or you may not.
These problems are most often caused by an Internet connection problem - which can technically be anywhere between your own computer and the Funkypool servers.
The only common cause you *can* do anything about yourself is to make sure you don't download/upload anything else while playing. This should normally not be a problem anyway, but if you do experience network issues, that is a good thing to do.
