I'd appreciate some clarification on what edge modification is. It does not seem to be explained anywhere.

In short, it's a reduction in rank gains when you have very high rank.

The higher your rank get, the more cutoff you get, eventually meaning that winning a game earns you nothing at all, making it impossible to gain higher rank.

And the opposite occurs for the other side of the ranking scale.

When you keep losing and get close to 500, the edge modification reduces the points you lose per game.
