Due to the numbers displayed being shown to 1 decimal place and the "actual" values being numbers with more than 1 decimal place, sometimes this will happen (due to rounding).

I got something like this on my old account. I won a game and it had said that my new rank was 800.3, but then I checked my profile and it said my rank was 800.2. But in your case its, what dave_c said.

Worse one is when it says you are 800.0 ADEPT but because it is actually 799.9993 or something ridiculous it rounds up!

The values are stored to 2d.p. internally but is always shown to 1d.p.
I don't like this inconsistency. I think it would probably be better to deal with all scores to 1d.p.

Ahh, cheers for clearing that up.
And no, i'm not complaining. It'd have been a proper rant if it'd been less!

Consistency is paramount - whether you increase or decrease resolution to accomplish it is secondary.

Or 2 d.p.? I can see why they're stored as 2 d.p though, for greater accuracy etc. Why are they not displayed that way any more though?
By the way, you can see what your score to 2 decimal places is if you create a room and set the rank filter above or below your rank. It'll tell you then that it's not allowed, oh wait, it doesn't any more!!! Was this removed, or have we changed now to 1 d.p.?

I think 5 significant figures are definitely too much for us to scan easily... it looks too messy.

I think one d.p is plenty, the only reason for retaning the two would be if the top of the ranking tables were regularly decided by such a factor.

Sorry to bring up an old thread... I was right, it still does show 2 dp as in this example that I see from this evening:
Your ranking must be 500.0 to 700.0 to enter this room (you have 792.43)
That is all

Agreed.
The only thing I can think of that definitely needs 2 d.p are pot percentages and that sort of thing. Those tables typically always have several players on the same first decimal.

GAME: hbomb2 (545.3, Newbie) v _gerard_ (820.3)
Straight Ranked - _gerard_ (1) 15 - -17 (0) hbomb2 (by default, hbomb2 left the game)
RANKINGS: _gerard_ 814.0 (+0.8), hbomb2 544.8 (-0.5)
According to me it should be 820.3 + 0.8 = 821.1
Hmmm.. I must do maths again as I didn't no +0.8 meant -6.3! :/

According to your results page you were at 813.2 following previous game so 814 would be right

You must have left the previous game and still had that rank, started that game and then the other finished at took the rank off you...

I looked at your results, and it seems you were 820.3 before you lost to smisguy, and that brought you down to 813.2. This makes the maths correct.
So, that leaves the problem of how the game told you that you had a rank of 820.3. I figure that smisguy had reached 35 points, and then you left the game as he continued his run (which continued until he reached a score of 49). However, because the game had not yet finished, your rank had not been re-calculated at that point, and therefore when you began to play hbomb2, it told you your rank was still 820.3. Them, during the game with hbomb2, smisguy finished his run, your rank got re-calculated down to 813.2, and then after you beat hbomb2, your score increased by 0.8 to 814.0.
To summarise, when you started the second game, the first game was not yet finished, and you were notified of an incorrect (but not really) rank at the start of the second game. This corrected itself during the second game, but you did not see this.

Actually, this would have come up as a result in the chat window. All games you take part in appear there, even after you have left the room (straight, killer).
