Did a quick forum search but couldn't find the thread I was looking for, swear there is something similar
Just playing a game of straight pool and my opponent fouled but didn't pot the white on the foul. The position the white was left in meant there was no pot on, nor even the remote of a famed "MMT Fluke!"
I wondered if it is out of bounds of the rules of straight pool that nick used for the funkypool version, that the person who has the shot after the foul, could either get ball in hand OR nominate their opponent to take another shot.
Similar to when someone fouls over on snooker or after a push shot on 9ball because I was in a no win situation in this instance, smashed them hoping for anything to drop, it didn't and my opponent went on a double figure run.
If something within the rules that nick uses states this isn't allowed, then I understand why, if not, is there any way we could introduce an option?

I agree, you should not be disadvantaged by your opponent fouling.
However I thank you for the double figure run Still didn't win though

I totally agree with this. You should never be able to gain an absolute advantage through a foul shot in any of the games on here.
Straight on here does not strictly follow genuine straight rules so i dont see why it couldn't be changed.

It's straight pool, I never play safety shots unless my opponent insists on it.....I am adventurous hence my win %

What, you mean they frequently ask you to play safeties?!

Certainly stats to be admired there.
To be honest I've had players roll up and give one point away. I just do the same. At most you can both only lose two points and you're opponent is going to be in exactly the same position, behind or ahead by exactly the same amount of points; the only difference being if they foul now they'll be subtracted 15. That's when they usually smash them up.

Thanks for the compliments, I meant that my win % had suffered because of my approach though......I was born to play straight pool on this website, should be 90% plus
Cloone, I did have a request like that once oddly enough but you know what I meant
As for rolling up, I know its an option but not one I like to do, harms your pot % for a start!
Just think if this isn't a rule as Chris mentions, maybe we could add something to give an option for people who like their pot%

Pot percentage is alright, but forme, a win is a win. Potting 20 balls in 22 shots and losing is not as good as potting 35 balls in 50 shots and winning, IMO

Well I've never bothered about percentages and stats. I'm hoping to get every game type to professional and then I'm going to choose one game type to play at a ranked level. I think my strongest is Straight, to be honest, so it'll probably be that. I don't have the time or quality to keep every stat flying high in the 850's and I like the professional tag far too much to try and best myself.

I suggest you try lordpool for a proper set of stats
Just to add a general observation that there is one player who doesnt 'play' the ranking system but uses it how its meant to be used.
