RANKINGS: pyriel 668.9 (+6.4), psyco05 688.8 (-5.7)

Can anyone explain to me why i lost 6 points? He's a newbie, and only 25 points below me.....
RESULT: Straight Ranked - pyriel (2) 18 - 9 (0) psyco05 (by default, psyco05 left the game)
RANKINGS: pyriel 675.0 (+6.0), psyco05 683.4 (-5.4)
psyco05's score change was reduced by 4.0% because pyriel was a newbie
Can anyone explain to me why i almost 6 points? He's a newbie, and not to far below me in points
RESULT: Straight Ranked - psyco05 (1) 33 - 20 (0) sirlek23 (by default, sirlek23 left the game)
RANKINGS: psyco05 685.6 (+2.2), sirlek23 717.4 (-6.2)
psyco05's score change was reduced by 66.4% because sirlek23 was a newbie
Now why did i only win 2 points? Seriously?
Anyone else having this problem?

My understanding is the percentage reduction reduces the nearer the player gets to playing 100 games and therefore no longer being a newbie - the theory being i guess that the nearer you get to 100 games the more likely your rank score is going to reflect your supposed level.
pyriel is almost at 100 straight games whilst the other player is in the 20's for straight games played i think
if thats not right im sure you will get the correct explanation in due course.

Spot on, Chris.
In the first case, you have only a 4% change to your score from the opponent newbie status.
In the last example, the newbie is a much MORE newbie, and your score were adjusted by over 60%.
I see nothing wrong here.

4.8% though? Ought it not to have been 5%? (Apart from that, it all looks good)

It says my score was reduced.....so if he wasnt newbie, i would've lost more. Im not debating the newbie reduction.....Im wondering why i lost so many points when he was ranked close to me...That's what i want explained

That's because that is the standard amount of points won/lost in a straight game.
The second table on this page tells you the point weight for each game type: http://www.funkypool.com/help/rankings
The main reason some game types are more volatile point-wise than others is because they by average take more time per game.
