I was thinking about this earlier. I love how we can practice while in the chat rooms, or waiting for opponents, but i dont love that i'm the only one playing. It's easy to beat yourself. What about implementing an AI into the practice table. Nothing fancy, just something to shoot against. I know there are friendly games, but sometimes i just wanna hone my skills in the chat room, and it's hard to do by myself, ya know? It maybe be a stupid idea, but it's something i thought i should share

You mean a computer playing against you while practicing?

Yea
And Flump, i think it will be fairly hard to implement as well, but i think it is also possible. It doesnt have to be a complex AI, just simple enough to shoot a shot or two

but i would be good if you could pick a setting of the computer, such as pro, adept, newbie, but that would be very hard to implement!
Good idea!

Hmmmmm... I'd imagine it would obviously involve the AI to be on the client's side and not over the network, which would involve a lot of traffic. But client-side AI would mean a bigger download of files when you open the game window, which just wouldn't do either. Or would it? It's a nice suggestion, but it might prove impracticable.
A lot of people will argue that perhaps playing your own shots and then, when you miss or set up a snooker, play the other side yourself (i.e. the status quo) is best, with the alternative being to go into a game room and play someone if you want someone to play the other half of shots in a game.
There's my two cents

I agree, it would be hard to implement. But what if he made it an optional download to your computer. If you want it, get it. If not, don't. That way it doesnt take too long for the people that will never use it. I think that would be easier. dont you?

true, but wouldnt it also take some time to do all of this??
like you dont want the computer knocking in any old ball, and you also want it to be a half decent opponent which can put on spin etc...
how long would something like this take nick???

I like the optional idea. And here's an extension of Psyco's idea: Why not make the AI something that you can purchase? Kinda ties in with an earlier idea of a premium upgrade. You could change the skill level of it if you wish.
