In this day and age we have sen the many new technologies be discovered. one of them being the router. But which is best(i.e price, connection, convenience etc.)...

The wired router which typically uses an ethernet cable to connect to your tower pc or laptop

Or

The wireless router, which can be less secure and has it's limits, but saves going round the house putting wires.

What do you think???

I prefer wireless myself, mainly because I like to move around the house when I'm on my laptop, so it's just a lot more convinient to use wirless.

I prefer Wired.
But if you prefer the mobility while being on the computer i suggest wireless, it's a good thing to have but personally, i don't feel the wireless technology is good enough...yet.

I know what you mean, when the connection is lost it can be pretty anonying, especially when playing on here.
And then I have to walk to the router to reconnect it, and I'm lazy

But in my case, I'd say the good outweighs the bad.

Well, i have a laptop.
I get the router and put it into my room, then i wire it up to the laptop, then sit on the bed, the wires are pretty much as good as wireless, they don't really get in my way and i never need to move my laptop anyway.

I'd do the same, but the PC downstairs needs to be wired to the router because the adapter that came with it is broken. So I can't move my router.

All seems to be working fine any how, so it's all good.

i may be on wireless but it's very easy 2 hack in2, now i know that cause a mate of mine had it happen 2 her and all her passwords were changed on hotmail ect.

we only use wireless cause it's cheaper, even tho sky is not good for broadband as it crashes at times, (it done it 10 times in 4hrs, a record in my books) it cost me a tourno b4.

think i'll go 2 wired soon.

You do know you can put a WEP secured network to stop other laptops getting into your network and using the benefits of what you are paying for free.

I have found a website where you can ''secure'' your network more and what save you having to change in the security terms of way.

You could always

I'm using the Netgear DGNB2100 Wireless Router.

I paid about £130 for it not so long ago and I've never had a problem with it so far. I have a desktop computer, laptop, ps3 and wii using the router, sometimes all at the same time, so I kind of needed something worthwhile.

Neatgear has really easy setup wizards if you're new to wireless connections and the DGNB2100 has a range of about 150 metres with two external antennas, so, being upstairs still gives you an awfully powerful connection. Just make sure you put a password on your network or your neighbours could have a lovely free internet connection. =p I think it runs at 270mbps, which is more than enough to be downloading whatever I want, playing online games and browsing the web at the same time.

So, yeah, if you're doing well for yourself financially I'd reccommend this. One of the best buys I've had with in terms of computer-related products.
