My dad uses AOL and I see no positives over safari (my browser). You even have to sign in!

Internet explorer is slow for a reason, its far more accomplished in keeping your computer 'safe'.
You have to decide.. speed or security?

Dark cloud is exactly right, and speed wise, on a clean windows machine, Internet Explorer outperforms any other browser by a considerable margin.
Firefox is an unstable piece of software at best, and the multitude of add-ons users are actually encouraged to use only makes the situation worse. It seemed a "secure" option at one time simply because it was rare.

How can you say that firefox is unstable, maybe when it started it was, it has all the security of ie7 and more and is ten times faster, firefox is the safest and fastest browser, dont mock it till you try it

Well, i need a browser that is ready to go as it is, with the features i want, is stable, fast, and most of all due to work useage, secure. So i use IE7.
I was an Opera fan until IE7 came along, but even after a long trial of 9.5, its failing to win me back over.
Firefox to me is like the cheapo lego you find in 99p shops that doesnt quite fit together. It can almost do what IE can if its tweaked and has bits added on, but that only makes it even more insecure and unstable than it already is.

The posts above say it all, but for my part I've spent so long cleaning up systems left vunerable due to users falling for the l33t myth that Firefox is secure that i'm less than polite about it anymore.
As you will be aware, being involved in the industry, thats not just my opinion (referring to the Bit9 annual report : http://www.bit9.com/files/Vulnerable_Apps_DEC_08.pdf )
And yes, (heres the disclaimer DC )thats aimed at the general corporate environment, but good advice for everyone to follow.
So yes, I've tried it, obviously, and continue to do so with each revision, as with all browsers our users are likely to try. Its part of my job after all, one of the more frustrating parts of it actually
Edit - however, back to the original post - it's totally up to you and what functionality you want.
AOL's software is relatively slow, yes, and not the most capable, but it is comprehensive at providing the pacage you are paying for in an easy to use manner.
Not ideal for funkypool by any means, but by all means give it a try, thats the only way you will know. You can always use an alternative browser as well, or uninstall if it really bugs you.

Internet Explorer is so safe Microsoft had to release a press statement this past month asking people to temporarily change browsers as they've had a serious security breach. For a browser that goes twice as slow as others (supposedly you say for security purposes) and having a huge flaw that could ruin alot of people's online privacy; yeah, it's a work of art to be admired.
Honestly, please, spare me the effort here. Firefox in a long time hasn't done anything to provoke stupidity in using IE. Firefox is, from my experience twice as fast as any other browser and with endless options of customisation... You really can't even put these two on the same set of scales.
If you're looking for a browser don't choose Internet Explorer. I'd recommend Avant before I'd recommend IE.

It's common for people to offer similar advice (move to linux its free etc etc) without remembering that when you have already paid for an operating system (as you have) that its kinda like walking 10 miles to work when you already have abike or car.
Yes, let Vista update to SP1, its a big improvement "behind the scenes".
However, the golden rule of everything computer-wise is that if its working, and does what you want, leave it alone.
People who tinker tend to end up unstuck, or indeed in a perpetual state of downloading, configuring, googling, etc (all whilst bragging about how brilliant it all is)
/rant.
Sorry!

Spinner nailed it. I personally think Windows is the best, and not just due to it being the most common, either. I'm also thankful I upgraded from XP to Vista, too, regardless of the haters.
