I have had one for weeks now if you just put your mouse over it, It should just say ''Java applet'' so I doubt there's anything too worry about there
I think its just and additional upgrade..

This is due to the latest update of Java, it is just warning you of applets (or multiple) that are currently running I think.
As far as I know there is no way of getting rid of it, even if it is such a horrible feature... if you can't stand it that much, try installing a previous version of java... making sure you completely remove your current version... follow spinners java guide in more threads than I can count.

Spinner's Java problem solver said:
- Go to control panel
- Add remove programs
- Remove all the java versions you see (there may be more than one).
- Clear browser histories including downloaded program files.
- Reboot (even if you're not told to)
- Then visit http://www.java.com for a new, clean, install.

From a Java Forum said:
"On Windows, an unsigned applet that opens a new top level window has previously included a status banner on the bottom of the window to identify it as a "Java Applet Window". In 6u10, the banner has been replaced by a small triangular warning icon placed in the upper right corner. Hovering over the icon will provide the "Java Applet Window" message as a tooltip."

Yep as already stated, this, along with a brief blue flashing border when each new java window (pm's, for example) is opened, have for some unknown reason been left in from the beta version of Java 6.10.
Apparently they were "very popular additions".
Lord knows why! *shakes head*
