say i got the required 35 points on straight pool.

what would happen if i then potted the white would i still take the win or would my points go back to 34 and the game continue?

I would say you win cause once you pot the 35th ball it tells you the points are obtained so it would be safe

Correct, the game ends the second you reach the necessary 35 points... what happens after that is irrelevant as far as the game result is concerned.

I don't know whether you saw my thread from earlier this week, but I reached the 35 point mark, the message about obtaining the points came up, then I missed my next shot, and left the room to attend my tournament game, then the result came up that I had lost.

I was just wondering why this may have occured when the game had finished.

It has happened me. You get the win and you remain on 35 points.
