Try Firefox if you arent already using it

That could do the trick..

First of all what browser are you using?
All have you got the lastest java?
Yeah if you dont already have firefox go for it!
Or you can have many other browsers that I prefer to firefox

right now im using IE7. i upgraded yesterday to IE8 beta to see if that would fix the problem but it did not. as for as java, im running Java 6 update 10 which i believe is the most up to date version but i could be wrong. I honestly don't want to add another browser since i'm so used to IE but i've been hearing good things about Google Chrome so i'll give it a shot.

Sounds like you are experincing classic lag, something thankfully pretty rare now.
Right, i guess you have already thought about this, but have you installed anything new at about the time the problems started?
MSN Live Messenger is a prime candidate for these problems. As are spyware/adware programs when they run in the background.
So, stop those if you haven't already.
Also, media players can cause problems, especially if you're playing DRM or high compression (mp3 V0 or V2) content, as will listening to internet radio or any other streaming service.
Have a check in your start menu > startup folder, and delete anything you don't know for sure you want to be there.
Let us know if you have any prime suspects, and we can see where to go from there.
As for browsers - IE8 Beta 2 has some issues with Java which are unresolved, rolling back to IE7 could save a bit of hassle. IE is generally fastest/lightest to run on windows systems due to the OS integration.

There are still other things to try. Are you using Norton Antivirus by any chance? It has been known to cause problems on quite a few occasions.
One other thing that can help, is it just the game that is "jittery", or the genral performance of the computer as a whole?
