A very capable program offering layers and it costs nowt.

Office Suite
Open Office

Sun decided to release the source code to Star Office which resulted in Open Office being created. Can open, view and save Microsoft formats for a good few hundred quid less.

Email Client
Mozilla Thunderbird

I'm not a fan of Firefox (as you have probably seen!) but Thunderbird is a different thing entirely. Excellent Email client that blows Outlook Express away.

wings 3D is a program used to make 3D objects it is easy to use (i myself am a fan of wings 3D becuase i am good at it for tutorials go to http://au.youtube.com/user/wings3Dmaster there is a few tutotials on basic things i have been meaning to put on more but mmm)(FREE)

Blender

blender is also a good program a bit harder to use but the rendering in this program is much more deatailed than wings 3D and blender has lighting u can put in for a better render (FREE)

Paint.NET

is a good program it is almost as good as pant shop pro seven.
i myself prefer paint.net becuase it is a good program it is easy to use unlike some programs and itslightweight and FREE!

ainti virus


Windows defender

is another FREE anti virus program.
I have it at home along with avg pro it works good and any changes in the system have to be checked with u befor they can be peformed so it is a bit protective and that is sorta what you want.(FREE)
