There's been no server downtime and server was never near peak use, so I'll assume it is your internet connection. Besides we are connected to the internet via 8 different backbones each with 5-9Gb/s capability.
Take a look at the help page regarding connection problems:
http://www.funkypool.com/help.do?section=connection_problems
If the problem is related to our site it would effect every member.

"tracert" (traceroute) and "ping" as useful tools to check this.
In windows, open a command line (Start -> Run -> cmd)
"ping funkypool.com" gives you a test of the overall access time it takes from your computer to each the funkypool server.
"tracert funkypool.com" gives you a little more (and highly useful) information - it lists all the hops the traffic takes between your computer and the server. In short, every piece (more or less) of network equipment your traffic has to travel through in order to reach the server, along with the time it takes to reach each of them.
If you have trouble with a crappy connection, a good approach is to run tracert first to get the list of addresses the traffic goes through, then use ping on each of those addresses to see where the traffic becomes unstable. The number of milliseconds it takes to reach each given point should be fairly stable if the network is healthy. If the network is having serious enough problems for you to be dropped out from this game, you should typically see very erratic ping times and often timeouts entirely.
Start with the first hop (nearest your own computer) and work your way out toward the server.
More often than not, the problem is either local (your own computer or home network is having a problem), or your Internet Service Provider is having a problem in their network (as you will see from the names on each hop, the first few addresses are typically within the network belonging to your ISP)
Don't be afraid to give it a try even if you are not into computers or think it sounds complicated. These are simlpe analysis tools that does nothing but provide information. They can do nothing wrong to your system no matter how incorrectly you use them
