i hav a samsung optical wheel ps\2 mouse.the mouse was working well.but suddenly after a reeboot the mouse did not get detected.the light glows but the pointer doesnt move.i tried to reconnect the mouse but still didnot work. the mouse is not displayed in the device manager.in control pannel the field for the mouse is left empty.i formatted and installed xp again but still didnot work.

More than likely a dead mouse i'm afraid.

I'd suggest trying either another mouse on your computer, or trying your mouse on someone elses to see if either work then you know what to do..
