Right heres my idea we have a annual or monthly tournament the winner gets the made champion for how ever long (one month or one year how ever long between tournaments) and has the title placed on his profile and maybe in brackets at side of this name eg rwzippy (champion)

Admin sets the date and time for it and we get one weeks notice it would be better to have it on a weekend when people are off work to ensure a maximum number of players.

So what do we all think

I don't really understand the difference between this and the tournaments now, apart from you are only champion for a day unless you win the next day.

How about something that is like the marathon tournament but includes all 3 types of pool. So maybe it would work something along the lines of:

- Best of 3 up to semi
- Best of 4 in semi
- Best of 5 in final
- First game us8, second uk8 and third 9ball and continuous in that pattern until someone gets to 3, 4 or 5 (depending on stage of the tournament you are at)

With marathons being once day, this tournament could be just like the champion tournament idea as it inculed all game types and is the length of a marathon, which I think seperates the best from the rest unlike the speed or the default tournament, if that's the right word, which is best of 2.
So Held every Sunday? I think this builds nicely on your idea, and the more ideas the better as I think a weekly tournament like this would be great.

Nice idea sporting what i'm proposing though is that people know all that you are the champion by the title been placed next to your name, also that there would be 3 tournaments 1 for each game, so there would be 3 champions for the month.

I like the champion for the month/week bit but I'm kind of confused as to how it can seperate you. I mean there are 24 tournaments a day that are exactly the same as the tournament that gives you the champion tag. I like your idea but I think the tournament that gives you the 'champion' tag needs to be original and something that happens once a week/month so then people see it as the pinacle and the champion tag would fit in better, which is why I put forward my idea of a tournament that seems a step up from the marathon, so it would then fit in well with the once a week scheme we got going here, as the marathons are once a day.
It's like putting both ideas together

With the monthley tournament you would be able to join longer before eg 1 wk and you would have the title somewhere on either on your profile on in your name it would be a bigger tournament because there would be a lot more people to join.

Yes the current tournaments give you champion title but they are small tournaments compared to what i'm saying and all you get is a tournament win on your profile.

The only problem with this is soooo many players would sign up for the tournament a week before and then not show up. Everyone would get DQ'd and it wouldn't be much longer than a normal tournament. I like the idea though

so your saying sporting in a nut shell, that maybe we should have 3 different tornnaments on a set day 15th of each months,

UK 8 - champion tournament starts 10:00.
US 8 - champion tournament starts 13:00.
9 Ball - champion tournament starts 18:00.

The point pointed out by deathsnooker clears most of it up. If you wanted a tournament with lots of players entered, to declare the winner a champion then you might aswell use the 9-ball speed tournament.
Not many people will not come online to play unless they were caught online at the time the tournament starts. Even if they are online and hundreds show up, so many people would just leave and there would be alot of byes through all the rounds causing people to just leave, Like the marathon but on a way bigger scale.
If there was to be a tournament that gives the winner a champion tag, in my opinion it needs to be a tournament that people see as the pinacle, and if they win that tournament it's an excellent achievment. That's why a tournament that's different I.E all the game types involved in the matches will be seen as a tournament that can give you the right to the 'champion' tag.
Tha main problem is time problems.

It's a minor problem for the reason that possibly someone will win both and then there is no point in having two to cater for peoples location, as that one person has won both. But It is a small problem, I mean having two or three is not that big a deal.

But I stand by my point that the tournament needs to be different, because it is a champion tournament!

My idea is one (or two) tournaments on a weekend every weekend called a champions tournament. It is the same as rwzippy idea, just the tournament consists of all game types. for example, race to three, you start playing uk8-ball, the second game is us8-ball, and the third 9-ball. Does that make sense? Then it just continues in that pattern until there is a winner from the match. Then in the next round it's the same, just the game types may be in a different order.
This in my opinion gives the tournament an extra something, like a champion tournament should.

but the get 'maximum amount of players' involved, you need to find a suitable time for the UK, US and Aussie/NZ/Philippine players (we are all within 3 hours of each other)....as thats where (i think) the majority of the players come from.

or have it at a different time every week to suit those other countries as well....to share it around a bit.

I like the idea of a tournement mixing the different game types. I think that would seperate a good player from a great player. I think if possible each round could be a race to 2 of each US, UK and 9 ball and the first to win 2 out of the 3 events goes through. In the semis the amount needed to go through could be increase. I also think that you would need to randomise the order in which the games are played to stop people practicing on only the first 2 games.
Monthly would be better then weekly in my opinion.

Another idea to throw into the mix for a 'champions tournament' could be a tournament where you have to have 20 plus tournaments (overall) to enter.
This will definitely seperate the best from the rest because people cannot moan about how easy some tournament are. (Which I completely dis-agree with.
It can be held at the same time as the other tournament. E.g. 4PM US 8-ball tournament and US 8-ball champions tournament will be held (not all the way throughout the day, just at certain times). The players with more than 20 overall tournaments will not be eligible to enter the normal tournament, and same goes for the players without 20 tournaments, they cannot enter the champions tournament.

On your profile it could fit in well. Under each game type it will say champion tournaments won. Aswell as have the 'tournaments won'.
So it adds something to the profile, and if you do well it will make it look all the more impressive.

It would be nice to hear other ideas as I think some kind of extra spice added to the tournament feature of this game would be great, especially now we have had two extra game types addedd in quite a shot space of time
