Would it be possible to have a minute or two extra time available to join a tournament invite? or an option to automatically join your tournament game after your game?
When you are a bye or you win your game long before anyone else, it's more fun to play a game or two while you are waiting. The problem is, i've just had to abandon a game to join my tournament invite, when there was only the black left to pot.
I've now got another abandoned game stat under my name.
I know if we extend it people have to wait longer, but that's why I suggested the function to automatically join your tournament game after your current game, that way you wouldn't get the abandoned game stat.

Or maybe an announcement from TOURNAMENT when there are x games remaining.
I.e.. when there are only two games left, there could be an announcement to all players in the tournament;-
TOURNAMENT: The next round is about to start shortly! Please get ready.

very good point nicknax, i am unable to open the page that shows results as the ads rolling on it causes severe lag, so would be good to know how many games are left playing. love the new site, but lag is worse than ever, especially with the sky ads.

- Open up the game window...
- Click "options"
- Click "results" under "menu" on the right hand side
- Click "View all tournament results"
That way, as every tournament game finishes, it will come up with the result in the chat box. When the results that appear start to become less frequent, you know that the round is almost over as more people finish the game...

True, but how do you know how many games are left and there's far too many tournaments running at the same time, at one point there was a us 8 ball, a us 9 ball and a uk 8 ball tournament all running at the same time! Far too many results.
All we need is something that informs us how many games are left or a little extension if we are in a game.

Yes, all games could start at the same time. So there's no advantage

A big no, simply because of the waiting you impose on other players. If you play a tourny you should be dedicated to that. If you want to play other games in between, that's obviously your choice, but when the next invite does pop up, you are limited to the choice of abandoning your current game or rejecting the invite.
If anything, tourny invite times should be made shorter, especially in speed tournaments.

We need a way (An easy way) to find out how many games are left.
I would be dedicated to a tournament, but when i'm a bye in what could be a marathon tournament, when I don't bother chatting in the chat room, would else can i do other than watch paint dry for 20 minutes?
I start a frame and sometimes the invite arrives quite early and can't finish off the game.
If only there was a warning, I wouldn't start a new frame.

a tournament waiting room where you can wait and practice and somewhere in the room is the tournament page updating itself every 30 seconds......maybe the tourny room could even be a wso room but its always there and always has the tournament page clearly visible.....that would be ace =D

Good ideas...
imo, the best option would be if each tournment automatically created a chat room in which you get announcements for each game getting completed, as well as the remaining number of games at that point.
Possibly even automatically move winning players from the tourny game to this waiting room so newbies don't have to figure this out for themselves.

Why another room?
It could be an option to "turn on" a counter that shows how many games remaining in a tournament next to the "chat room" at the top of the page... (Or the avatars if you are in a game)
For example:
Chat Room (9 ball tourny (2 games left))
Or just:
Chat Room (9 ball (2)) - If you are stuck for space...

Simple option is to not play any games in between tourney games, maybe just practice.

Rat: Very true, no need for another room.
It would be good if that option only spammed tourny remaining games when you are in fact taking part in that tourny tho, otherwise it will be a lot of spam in general.
Couldn't agree more. Not to mention how much most players would benefit from spending more time on the practice table in general

You could play killer - it doesn't have any abandoned stats.

No way lol if you have more than 3 mins then in a speed tourny u might only get like 3 mins to play

What I do is, if I want a game between rounds of a tourney, I check before each game I play how many games are left by going to the tournament page, check the scores is necessary (one game left at 1-1 in a marathon tourney affords more time than one at 2-1 or 2-2), and decide then if I want to continue.

You're probably not going to want to play other games mid-way through a speed tourny.

That's what most experienced players do I assume.
The point is that this could be made much more obvious and intuitive by having some kind of tournament round status announced in-game as an option. The number of remaining games plus the status of the game furthest away from completion would be good. (and it should be default enabled while taking part in any tourny, so new players get it without having to first find, understand, and enable the option setting for this)
