This is a java issue, so affects all browsers, and seems to be affecting the latest update more than previous versions.
The common crash leaves a file named hs_err_pid<number>.log on your desktop.
Perviously this seemed to happen following updates, so a clean install solved the problem. However its proving quite common now and reinstalls don't always work.
Remember to follow the stages in full (for XP/Vista):
- Go to control panel
- Add remove programs
- Remove all the java versions you see (there may be more than one).
- Clear browser histories including downloaded program files/plugins
- Visit http://update.microsoft.com to ensure windows is up to date and amlware scan is run
- Reboot (even if you're not told to)
- Then visit http://www.java.com for a new, clean, install.
If this still doesnt work, post back with your system details and we can see if there's a pattren.
