I want to know in some tournement first rounds there is alot of byes and in others theres one or two byes. Y cant the people that have byes play each other. Please answer my questions thank u

The simple thing is that the number of players left for round 2 of the tournament should always be a factor of two, in other words, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and so on...

The first round is used to get the total remaining players down to the closest of those numbers. That often means that only a few matches needs to be played. The rest get byes.

its randomly selected to make say if there's 88 players, only a certaion number would play to get to 64, for the next round to be 32. but i know what you mean sometimes only 10 players play, i would like this to happen so all the players possible could play, and still make the next round even. would be a quicker tournament aswell.
